Callum Hunter-Hill Premiership - Stirling County Rugby Football Club

Callum Hunter-Hill Premiership

With the recent news of Callum Hunter-Hill departing Saracens for Premiership champions Northampton Saints, we take a look back at the rugby journey of the former County club captain.

Callum started off his rugby career at the minis section of North Berwick RFC, before moving on to play for Stewart’s Melville College, where he was scouted. He spent the start of his senior career with us at Stirling County, captaining the team and becoming club captain for the 2016-17 season. He was then announced as part of the Glasgow district rugby academy.

Callum made his debut for Glasgow Warriors in September 2015, coming off the bench in a friendly against the Army Rugby Union team. Glasgow won the match convincingly, 71-0. He then made his competitive debut for the Warriors against Zebre a year later, coming off the bench to make his first appearance in the Pro12 Championship.

In May 2017, Edinburgh Rugby announced that they had signed Hunter-Hill on a professional contract. He stayed at the club for 2 seasons, making 10 appearances for the capital side.

In 2019, the lock joined Premiership side Saracens on an academy loan to strengthen their depleted second row options during the 2019 Rugby World Cup. He was then offered a long-term contract, seeing him stay with the club for 5 seasons from 2019-2023. In that time, he became a regular in the match-day 23, with over 50 appearances to his name. He also picked up a Premiership winner’s medal with Saracens in 2023.

The news broke this summer that Hunter-Hill would be departing Saracens and heading to current Premiership champions Northampton Saints. “When the opportunity to join Saints came, I looked at the team and it just seems like a fantastic place to be.” He told Saints.

We wish Callum the best of luck as he continues his Premiership journey!
