FOSROC Super6: Contracted Academy Players

FOSROC Super6: Contracted Academy Players Today we can confirm the five young male players, playing for Stirling County, contracted to the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy for the 2021/2022 season. Murphy Walker – prop Angus Fraser – hooker Max Williamson – lock Euan Cunningham – stand-off Ross McKnight – winger It’s going to be a big year for Murphy. After recovering from a couple of long term injuries, he is back fighting fit and ready to help bring the trophy back to County. Murphy joined the club straight out of school and we hope and believe that we, as a club, can be part of what could be a breakthrough year for him. Angus is another player who hasn’t had the opportunity to play much rugby over the last couple of years – due to injuries and then the pandemic. Angus is a really destructive player, and he will bring lots to the team and the matches. We are really looking forward to seeing the best of him in the coming season.  Max, Ross and Euan have all played youth rugby for the club so it is great to have them continuing their journey as part of the senior FOSROC Academy. They are all fresh off a tough first year with Scotland U20s but all three have another year and have benefited greatly from the experience. They’ve all got a huge amount of potential and we are looking forward to seeing them realise that potential over this season and the coming years.  All five players will have the opportunity to train daily at Glasgow Warriors with professional players and coaches – helping them accelerate their development by being immersed in the pro-team club environment early in their careers. As well as being part of the FOSROC Super6 team, the Contracted Academy players will continue to receive individualised academy support through dedicated age-grade specialist coaches, strength and conditioning personnel and physios, who will have the responsibility to ensure the continued development of these players. Stirling County Head Coach Ben Cairns said: “It’s great to have these five guys confirmed for the season ahead. All five are already connected with the club and three of the guys played youth rugby for Stirling County. We look forward to continuing to be part of their journey as they aim to pursue a career in professional rugby”
