Introducing Wolves 1st New Captain – Shaun MacDonald

We’re excited to announce and introduce Shaun MacDonald - our Wolves 1st XV Captain!

Shaun had this to say on his appointment of Captain,

“This season I have accepted the club captaincy for the Wolves, after a lengthy time away from rugby due to a shoulder injury and Covid restrictions it is great to be back playing at Bridgehaugh. As a player who has progressed from the youth teams to breaking into the 2nd XV and finally into the 1st XV it is a privilege to captain the Wolves. The talent across the squad is exciting and we are developing a really strong team. Ultimately having the backing of the players has given me real confidence for the season ahead.”

Eddie Pollock, Director of Rugby at Stirling County RFC commented,

“Everyone in the club is delighted that Shaun has accepted the captaincy this season. Not only will he captain the Wolves but he becomes the figurehead for the whole club from micros to seniors. I have known Shaun over many years first coaching him in the U18 National side. A County man through and through, he is an outstanding rugby player with a fantastic work ethic and more importantly displays all the values we wish to see in a County player on and off the pitch. He will lead by example and I look forward to working closely with him to improve everything we do at the club for all players.”

Stirling County RFC’s President, John Gibson said,

“We are delighted to announce Shaun MacDonald as our club captain for season 2021/2022. Shaun is a County boy through and through, having come up through the youth system and played age-grade rugby for Scotland U21’s. He leads by example and all the boys recognise his hard work and passion for the team. We wish him all the best for the season and the support from all at the club for him as our captain.”
