The Memories group at Stirling County has been operating for about four years. It arose from the national movement by the SFA to encourage people to get together to talk about football memories and now Rugby, Golf, Shinty, and Boxing have all become involved.
At County we see it as an opportunity for rugby fans to come along for a cup of coffee and a bit of cake and chat about their memories of playing or watching rugby. We have had some excellent speakers from within the club as without, as well as watching videos or accessing sports memorabilia as when the calcutta cup came to the club.
The plan is to meet in the clubhouse for an hour or so at 12.30 on the first Monday of the month, beginning on Monday 6th September. John Gibson, the Club President will give an introduction then one of our former players will talk about his experience of playing rugby for the club and also in another country. At the October meeting we have someone speaking about preparation of grounds for international rugby and how that has developed over decades.
