Modern Apprenticeship Rugby Balls - Stirling County Rugby Football Club

Modern Apprenticeship Rugby Balls

The club would like to say a massive thank you to Adam Sinclair and Sterling Sinclair Removals for providing 200 rugby balls for use by our modern apprentices in schools around Stirling! 20 size 4 balls will be going to Wallace, Dunblane and Stirling high schools, while 10 balls will be going to each primary school that we run sessions in.

Ceitidh Ainsworth and Mickey Kesson are the first two coaches in our modern apprentice scheme. They started back in October, working in three local secondary schools and their feeder primaries through the Active Stirling program. They also coach in the minis section and the boys and girls youth section at the club. They work with over 300 children per week, delivering high quality rugby sessions to Stirling’s youth. The Sports Academy of Scotland delivers the learning provision for our modern apprentices at SCQF level 6 which, in conjunction with their coaching, runs to 20 hours per week.

The club would also like to thank the Littleton Trust and Scottish Rugby who have both helped fund the schools program. We are also indebted to Active Stirling for their support in getting our coaches into to local schools.

“I was born in Stirling and, even though I live on my small farm in shadow of the Pentlands in Edinburgh, I’ll always be Bannockburn boy. I’ve had scholarships to the best schools, learned another language and traveled the world, and gone on to eventually set up my businesses. All of this stemmed from picking up a rugby ball at Stirling County Rugby Club. I would love for many more kids to have the opportunities that I have had from this” – Adam Sinclair
