Russell returns to Stirling County – Harry’s Back!

Stirling County is pleased to announce that Harry Russell is returning to Stirling County to take a position in County’s FOSROC Super6 squad this season.

Harry began his rugby career at Stirling County at the age of five – coming along to Bridgehaugh with his best friend regularly on a Saturday morning.

He continued to train and play for County right through until his early 20s. Harry then went on to play for Melbourne University in Australia, West of Scotland and Falkirk before returning to Stirling County this year.

Harry isn’t the only member of the Russell family to have associations with Stirling County. Scotland International, Finn Russell, played for County back in 2011, and Harry’s brother, Archie Russell, played for Stirling County’s Super6 team last season and is named in the 32 squad line up for this season.

Harry Russell commented on his return to Stirling County,

“It’s exciting to be part of a club that I played for years ago – I have so many great childhood memories of playing for County over the years. It’s also great to see a few other players returning as well who have a connection to the club.

The last few weeks have been great – training with the guys and bonding with them ahead of the FOSROC Super6 Spring Series. I’m ready and looking forward to the physical and mental challenges that come with playing at this level.”

Ben Cairns, Head Coach, said,

“I am delighted we have been able to bring Harry back to the club. From our first meeting, I could tell Harry was a quality individual who would add real value to our group. Having been Falkirk’s captain he brings experience and leadership to the group and fits well with our policy of homegrown first.”
