Thanks to the support of Stirling Council, Stirling County RFC are pleased to be offering a Fit, Healthy and Fun Summer for the children and young people of Stirling who are in the most affected transition areas within education.
The programme will take the form of strength and conditioning sessions, delivering physical literacy and long-term skill development, adapted to the relevant age and stage across the sessions. Designed to increase physical self-confidence and participant physical self-awareness. Participants at the end of the summer block will leave with individual work plans and the confidence to progress themselves. These sessions will be led by Filippo Bertolini, Stirling County’s lead S&C coach. Whilst the sessions will be designed to improve and educate on physical fitness, they will most of all be enjoyable and rewarding.
We hope to engage children and young people who face additional barriers in partaking in physical activity. They may already be active but lack the resources to partake in this type of programme. It may be that they have not yet found a physical activity that fully engages them. This will be an opportunity to socially engage around a shared activity but one that is non competitive and designed to support the participants. We hope that if this programme is successful, it will form the basis for future work, both based at SCRFC and outreach work within schools & colleges.
Our term time sessions are now open for registration. These will run at Stirling County RFC at 3:30-4:30pm on Wednesday August 18th, Friday August 20th, Wednesday August 25th & Friday August 27th. These sessions will form a short trial for future offerings for our local community from Stirling County.
