Stirling Wolves have confirmed their 32-man squad for the upcoming 2023 FOSROC Super Series Championship.
Ben Afshar, who is currently co-captaining Scotland at the World Rugby U20 Trophy in Kenya, joins on a partnership contract with Glasgow Warriors.
Afshar’s U20s teammate, prop Moby Ogunlaja, will be looking to make his first appearance in a Wolves’ jersey having returned to full fitness after spending the Sprint Series sidelined through injury.
6ft 4in and 142kg tighthead Marius Tamosaitis has signed having enjoyed a successful Sprint Series at Bridgehaugh as Ogunlaja’s injury cover.
Ross McKnight returns to the Wolves from Watsonians having spent time in the Glasgow Warriors senior academy and playing of GB7s.
Edward Hasdell is a new signing in the back-row, the former Yorkshire Carnegie Academy prospect joining the Wolves from Heriot-Watt University.
Fly-half Cameron Scott, who is Scottish Qualified through his grandparents, arrives from Cardiff University. Sam Rockley is another new signing, the former Scotland U18 winger arriving at Bridgehaugh from the London Irish Academy.
Gregor Brown, Logan Trotter and Max Williamson have also been named as the Wolves’ three Professional Transition Players from Glasgow Warriors. Trotter and Williamson are both affiliated with their boyhood club having come through the Stirling County RFC Academy.
Stirling Wolves Head Coach Eddie Pollock said: “I’m really pleased with the squad we’ve assembled for this year’s Championship. We’ve done some very exciting recruitment, whilst also retaining our top talent from the Sprint Series and have got a great blend of youth and experience.
“Something we’re very proud of is that a quarter of the squad have come through the youth system here at Stirling County. On top of that George Breese and James Pow played a lot of first team amateur rugby here before moving up into the Wolves squad.
“It’s a testament to the pathway we’re trying to build at Bridgehaugh and hopefully we can have a successful few months on the pitch and inspire the next generation of Wolves players.
“The club, and the wider local community, have really embraced the Wolves and the Super Series and we’re looking forward to welcoming our supporters back starting with our free to all pre-season joint training session against the competition’s new side, the FOSROC Future XV, this Saturday.”
