Stirling County RFC presents a Fit, Healthy and Fun Summer - Stirling County Rugby Football Club

Thanks to the support of Stirling Council, Stirling County RFC are pleased to be offering a Fit, Healthy and Fun Summer for the children and young people of Stirling who are in the most affected transition areas within education.

The programme will take the form of strength and conditioning sessions, delivering physical literacy and long-term skill development, adapted to the relevant age and stage across the sessions.  Designed to increase physical self-confidence and participant physical self-awareness.  Participants at the end of the summer block will leave with individual work plans and the confidence to progress themselves.  These sessions will be led by Filippo Bertolini, Stirling County’s lead Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach.  Whilst the sessions will be designed to improve and educate on physical fitness, they will most of all be enjoyable and rewarding.

We hope to engage children and young people who face additional barriers in partaking in physical activity.  They may already be active but lack the resources to partake in this type of programme.  It may be that they have not yet found a physical activity that fully engages them.  This will be an opportunity to socially engage around a shared activity but one that is non competitive and designed to support the participants.  We hope that if this programme is successful, it will form the basis for future work, both based at SCRFC and outreach work within schools & colleges.

Sessions begin from w/c July 13th – All age groups are for school year 2021-22 – Participants must reside in the Stirling Council area to apply.  Following the summer holiday sessions there will be additional extra-curricular sessions based at Stirling County throughout August.

Sessions are limited to a maximum of 20 participants with one session per week per person.
